A weekly assembly is formally known as a Satsang Sabha or Ravi Sabha (if held specifically on a Sunday). The term Satsang translates to "the company of the good or truth," while Sabha means "assembly" or "gathering." Together, they refer to a weekly congregational gathering where devotees visit their nearest local sabha center to rejuvenate their spiritual and moral lives.
Core Components of a Sabha:
A typical weekly assembly lasts about two hours and generally follows a structured format:
Dhoon and Prarthana: Congregational chanting and prayers to begin the session.
Kirtans: Singing devotional hymns composed by the paramhansas (saints) of Bhagwan Swaminarayan or current spiritual master's devotees.
Pravachan (Spiritual Discourses): Lectures delivered by sadhus (monks) or learned devotees. These are based on canonical scriptures like the Vachanamrut and Swami Ni Vato.
Presentations and Skits: Moral and cultural programs, educational debates, or dramas performed by youth and children.
Arti and Prayers: The assembly concludes with a traditional light ritual (arti) and communal prayers for peace.
