River Boats in Vietnam: Value, Income & Life on the Water

Discover the real working life of boats and barges on the rivers of Vietnam’s Mekong Delta. In this video, we explore the value of different rice-carrying boats, from small 25–30-ton boats worth less than 100 million VND to larger 140–170-ton barges that once cost more than 1.6 billion VND to build. We also take a closer look at their engines, operating costs, and how much money boat owners can actually earn from each trip. The video also features boats transporting pangasius fish, small fishing boats using bottom dredging nets, and old wooden boats reinforced with composite materials. Some small fishing boats can earn around 500,000 VND per day.
