For this studio session, I felt the need to explore an oriental, modal scale — something I return to from time to time. For this, I tuned my kalimba and mini dulcimer to the same fundamental note (C). There is something deeply magical about oriental and modal music that I can’t fully explain.Since childhood, I’ve been drawn not only to the music, but to the culture as a whole:the language, spirituality, food, colors, art — and the people. Their way of approaching life.Their gentle melancholy.Their fluid gestures. It’s no surprise that I’ve traveled, listened extensively to Middle Eastern and Asian music, and now live in that part of the world. And yet, I rarely explore this musical direction.Even though it keeps coming back — like something natural within me trying to express itself. When I play in this mode, the music seems to write itself.Everything feels effortless. Maybe that’s precisely why I don’t go there too often. It feels like a comfort zone. In this session, the dulcimer is processed through the Soma Cosmos in granular mode. And once again, I ran my Roland JU-06A through the Korg Monotron Delay, which adds a lo-fi texture — dirty, sharp, but also warm thanks to its small analog filter. It has become one of my favorite tools. I recorded a second take, but as always, the first one carried the most soul — even if imperfect. Channel Statement: These sessions are part of an ongoing ambient music project documented as a live audio-visual journal. Each piece is an improvised ambient performance, recorded in one take using minimal DAWless setups, analog synthesizers, hardware instruments, imperfect loops, and evolving lo-fi textures. The focus is on process, repetition, and spontaneous sound exploration rather than polished production. These recordings function as raw sonic material — sketches and evolving ideas that may later develop into fully realized ambient albums released on my Bandcamp page. This channel documents the creative process in its most direct form: live, minimal, intuitive, and unfiltered.
