I opened my 10 year old Ableton project files live on stream and had absolutely no idea how any of it worked anymore. My album Unsubscribe turned 10 years old and I thought I'd revisit the sets — each track made with a single sample, a single MIDI clip, a single note, and one instrument rack. No more. What I found was a 10 year old version of me doing things I'd completely forgotten were possible in Sampler, some genuinely interesting ideas I should probably revisit, and an extraordinary amount of key tracking left on filters. Also my friend Ollie turned into a robot sheep. Also a Thundercat bassline at 150 BPM. Also a field recording of what might be me on the London Underground, or possibly a horse.
