In a small frontier town controlled by a ruthless gang, the local sheriff realizes that ordinary law enforcement is no longer enough. With the town falling under the influence of the violent Hoyt Killian and his men, the sheriff makes a desperate decision: recruit one outlaw to take down another. That outlaw is Jesse James, a legendary gunslinger whose reputation is nearly as dangerous as the gang he is being asked to infiltrate. Under the identity of J. Frank Dalton, Jesse agrees to enter the criminal organization and uncover its plans from the inside. As Jesse works his way deeper into Killian's gang, he discovers that the town is hiding more than just a criminal operation. Gold and valuable property are at the center of the conflict, and Killian intends to drive the townspeople away so he can claim everything for himself.
