I built a massive hot compost pile with free horse manure and charcoal — and after 3 weeks it's STILL at 60°C. Will this charcoal actually turn into biochar? Here's my zero-budget Part 1 experiment. My budget is low, but my grit is high. The unglamorous reality: this pile isn't finished compost yet. In this video I show you exactly how I layered free horse manure, charcoal and browns to build a 4-5 cubic meter hot compost pile, the heat test on Day 3 and the update on Day 21 - still cooking at 60°C. That heat means the microbes are charging the charcoal into biochar compost. This is the first time I hot compost with manure… it's a real, low-budget flower farm experiment. Let's look at the bright side: it's working. JOIN THE JOURNEY: Building a flower farm from scratch in Italy with recycled pots, borrowed tools and regenerative ideas. #biochar #compost #gardening
