Candlepin Bowling (From Sammy White's!) Gary Carrington vs. Paul Berger

Air date: 1/28/1984. Special thanks to Nick Norcross for providing this tape who in turn got it from Gary Carrington himself. There was a slight issue near the end of the second game with this tape but nothing major. Included most of the commercials from this telecast too. This match featured two of the all time greats of the game, Gary Carrington having to take on Paul Berger. Paul himself was going for his third win in a row, and was bowling red hot after rolling a monster 464 triple earlier in the season against Tom Olszta which was a near record at the time. (Though as Don Gillis would mention on this program that Paul had to wait awhile before returning to TV to defend his winning streak since the Ladies edition of the program aired for roughly a couple of months.) It's also worth noting that this was right around the time that the Yellow Pages moved on from Candlepin Bowling as a major sponsor, which prompted the show to change a couple of small pieces of the format of the show, including the show itself introducing the $50 bonus to whomever won each individual string while no longer offering the $50 marksman of the day bonus at the end of the program. The match itself was absolutely FANTASTIC, and it featured pins flying everywhere in this one along with VERY high scoring that went back and forth heading into the third game. When all was said and done, it ended up also featuring one of the highest posted scores on the program up to that point from the 1983 - 1984 season. Hope you all enjoy, R.I.P. Don Gillis.
