In this video, I take those familiar rudiments and move them onto the drum kit—exploring different sounds, orchestrations, accents, dynamics, and ways of creating movement around the kit. This is where technique starts becoming musical. Instead of simply repeating a pattern, we can use the rudiment as a starting point for fills, grooves, transitions, and ideas that actually serve the music. The goal isn’t just to play rudiments faster. It’s to understand them deeply enough that you can hear possibilities and turn technique into your own voice on the drums.
