How far can a Ranger Super Duty tow on one tank? We put our new vehicle through its first towing test, with our Lifestyle RECONN R4 on the back. Tanami Road: 1,000km of red dirt and corrugations between Halls Creek and Alice Springs. The trip is not off to the smoothest start! There' are a few hiccups with the van and tow setup before we even get out of town. Once we're rolling, it's straight to stunning Lake Gregory in the Paruku Indigenous Protected Area. Then we free camp in the desert with a billion stars for company, and face the longest stretch of the Tanami without fuel: 590km, a 130L tank and no jerry cans.
