Camino de Santiago - The Frances
Day 9 (11th of May)
Los Arcos to Viana - 19km
Today started with some moaning and groaning. We did not have a good sleep and had to rush as we slept through our alarm.
We left Los Arcos at about 8am and headed to Sansol where we enjoyed a coffee and orange juice. Sansol is a tiny town, took us 2 minutes to walk through.
Even though we had a shorter walk today, the terrain was quite challenging - up and down the whole day (we read that this part of the Camino Route is referred to as the “knee wrecker” and agree with that).
We arrived in Viana at about 2.30pm. On entering the town, it looked very run-down but we were very surprised when we entered the little village (where we booked our accommodation) - the historical buildings are well maintained and it is one of the most beautiful villages so far. After a nice warm bath and a little rest, we felt refreshed enough to stroll around the village. It then dawned on us that the villages only come alive at night time, during the day it is so quiet and no one is about, but it was buzzing with activity from about 6.30pm.
