While the first night, having occured the day after Bono's father Bob was buried, was very raw and emotional, this second night feels more celebratory and relieved (a feeling that the band share), thanks to multiple factors: It's the end of the leg, which of course always adds a celebration to a show and additionally, right before this concert, Ireland had won their football game against the Netherlands, securing a place at the 2002 FIFA World Cup and since the game had been broadcast on the big screens, everyone knows and feels extra happy. Bono, who rarely ever mentions sports on stage, makes several references to this fact, most famously during "New Year's Day". The entirety of "Sunday Bloody Sunday" is dedicated to the victims of the Omagh bomb attack three years earlier, including a superb middle section and Bono reading out the victim's names at the end of the song. The one downside to this concert is the setlist, which is much weaker compared to the first night, which was already far from the best setlist on the tour, but featured "A Sort of Homecoming" for the first time since June 1987 and an impromptu cover of Thin Lizzy's "Dancing in the Moonlight". Tonight's setlist is much shorter and only features one big encore instead of two smaller ones, leading to what I believe is the shortest concert on the tour, lasting less than 110 minutes. "Out of Control" (one of the all-time best performances of the song!) replaces "I Will Follow", "Angel of Harlem" is the spiritual replacement for the Thin Lizzy cover and "All I Want Is You" (again, one of its best performances!) replaces "Bad" as per the usual rotating system on this tour. Everything else is the exact same as the first night. Don't get me wrong, the performances themselves and the vibes at this show completely make up for the somewhat lacklustre setlist, but for such a celebration I had kinda hoped for a few more surprises. 00:00:00 - 01.
