What if you lived 4,000 metres up, in a town of boats hanging under 300 patched balloons, and nobody had ever seen the colour green?
Every evening, a bird flies up out of the clouds with something green in its beak. You've been counting them since you were seven. But the evenings keep getting warmer, the old water winch needs less rope every year, and your aunt's forecast board always says "slight chance of falling." Something is dragging the Float down. To find out what, you'll have to do the one thing you haven't done since the storm: look down.
An animated What If story about hydrogen balloons, a sinking sky town, and the secret growing under your floor.

THE REAL SCIENCE IN THIS STORY
• Hydrogen is the smallest molecule there is, so it slowly leaks through seams, stitches and even good cloth.
• Air gets about 6.5 °C warmer for every 1,000 m you go down. So 4 °C warmer means roughly 600 m lower.
• Cloud droplets can stay liquid below freezing and freeze the moment they touch something. That's rime ice, the same ice that coats aircraft.
• Electrolysis splits water into hydrogen and oxygen. A litre of water weighs 1 kg, and turned into hydrogen it can lift about 1.5 kg.
• Some mosses can hold around 20 times their own dry weight in water.
