Seeing his friend upset, Gordon quietly devises a surprise for her: a scavenger-hunt made of decorated boxcars, each carrying a clue or a part of a mystery. Thomas, Percy, and Kana follow the trail of boxcars—starting with a pole under a bow, then a gearbox, then a screw, until finally unearthing propeller blades. Through teamwork and enthusiasm (and helping Kana when her battery gives out), they piece together the mystery device: a wind turbine charging pad designed to keep Kana powered up. In the end, Gordon reveals his gift: by creating the scavenger hunt, he not only cheered Kana up but actually solved her problem.
