Welcome to Beyond Milk Bible, where we go beyond surface-level Bible reading and explore Scripture in it's historical and biblical context. New long-form Bible studies ever week. Does God really expect you to push through exhaustion—or have Christians confused burnout with faithfulness? The Bible has a surprising amount to say about rest. Before sin entered the world, Yahweh rested on the seventh day and made it holy. In the wilderness, Israel had to learn that gathering more manna couldn't replace trusting God enough to stop. Psalm 127 calls rising early and staying up late in anxious striving “vain.” And when Elijah collapsed under a broom tree after Mount Carmel, God's first response wasn't a lecture—it was food and sleep. Yeshua modeled the same rhythm. He deliberately withdrew from the crowds, told His exhausted disciples to “come aside... and rest a while,” and invited the heavy laden to come to Him and find rest for their souls. In this Bible study, we'll walk through Genesis 2, Exodus 16, Psalm 127, 1 Kings 19, Mark 6, Luke 5, and Matthew 11 to ask a question many Christians rarely stop to consider: Did God ever ask us to live exhausted? Rest isn't something you earn after you've finally done enough. Scripture presents rest as part of the design from the beginning—and sometimes stopping requires more trust than continuing to work. Are you in an Elijah season, running on empty after giving everything you had? Or a manna season, learning to trust that there will still be enough when you stop? Tell me where you're at in the comments. #ChristianBurnout #BiblicalRest #BibleStudy #Sabbath #ChristianLiving #Elijah #Yeshua #Yahweh
