YA GOT TO LET IT ALL GO! Sometimes surrender isn't about giving up something bad. Sometimes God asks us to surrender something good because we've started placing our hope in it instead of placing our hope completely in Him. That is where this devotional came from. I was experiencing tremendous spiritual growth and seeing God make significant changes in my life. Yet during a conversation with a friend, God exposed something I was still holding onto—something I wanted, something that wasn't necessarily wrong, but something I had quietly begun calling mine. And that forced me to confront a difficult truth: Anything I put my hope in other than Christ can become an idol—even something good. Our human nature sees something good and immediately wants more of it. And if we're not careful, we can even convince ourselves that God is blessing exactly what we want, when perhaps He simply allowed two paths to cross for His own purpose. That's where Jehovah Jireh became so important to this devotional: The Lord will provide. Abraham's willingness to surrender Isaac challenged me because Abraham trusted the Provider more than the provision. My situation was nothing like Abraham's, but the spiritual question hit me hard: Do I trust God enough to let go of what I want and allow Him to decide what I actually need? I realized I had been putting “my hope” into things instead of completely leaning on His hope for me. And sometimes that's incredibly difficult because the things we're hoping for aren't bad. They're good. But as I originally wrote: “This does resemble my battle with my sinful nature because it deals with self and not soul.” God doesn't need my directions. He doesn't need my suggestions. And if I've surrendered my life to Him, I can't keep trying to add my own clauses to the contract. So this song is about that moment when faith finally says: God, I trust Your plan. I trust Your timing. I trust Your provision. And I'm letting ALL of it go. JEHOVAH JIREH! YES HE DOES! This song began as an original devotional I wrote about surrender, conviction, God's provision, and learning to place my faith completely in Christ. For years, one of my dreams has been to hear my writing become music. I am a writer and poet, not a musician. I don't sing, and I don't write musical arrangements. But the testimony, message and original writing are mine. AI has given me a tool to transform that writing and its meaning into music—helping with lyrical adaptation, structure, arrangement and voices.
