Sasha and John Digweed Open the Delta Heavy Tour in Miami March 2002 | DJ Mix Archive

Sasha & John Digweed’s Delta Heavy Tour was a pretty huge moment for progressive house and electronic music in the US. By 2002, they were already well known for the Renaissance and Northern Exposure mixes, plus their legendary residency at Twilo in New York. After Twilo closed, they took that momentum and turned it into Delta Heavy, a 31-city North American tour with Jimmy Van M that kicked off during WMC in Miami. This wasn’t a normal DJ tour for the time. They brought their own sound system, custom visuals, and lighting production from city to city. It was much closer to a full rock tour (or what most EDM tours would become 20 years later) than the typical club setup at the time. This recording is from the Miami Arena on March 23, 2002 during Winter Music Conference. BBC Radio 1 recorded the set and later aired it as an Essential Mix on April 7, 2002. The full Delta Heavy tour played to around 85,000 people and helped show what large-scale electronic music touring could look like in the US. Visuals provided by https://VJ.Studio.
