Hearing Test - Visually Reinforced Orientation Audiometry (VROA)

To perform more advanced behavioural hearing tests like VROA, the baby or toddler requires good head control, which is why the test is normally only performed with children aged 7 months to 3 years of age. VROA involves the child turning toward a sound when it is presented. When child looks in the direction a visual reward is presented (lights, tv activates etc). Accurate hearing thresholds can be obtained using this procedure. Children at this age are able to respond to more frequency-specific sounds.
