The event explored how greater alignment across global processes, including the UNFCCC, CBD and UNCCD, can support countries in translating interconnected commitments into coherent policies, investments and action at national and local levels. Against a backdrop of climate change, biodiversity loss, land degradation, conflict and economic instability, discussions highlighted the growing importance of integrated approaches to food systems transformation and resilience.
Drawing on national and local experiences as well as global perspectives, the session examined practical approaches to strengthening policy coherence, overcoming fragmented governance, improving cross-sectoral coordination and addressing financing and capacity challenges. Participants shared lessons learned, best practices and recommendations for accelerating country-led implementation while strengthening synergies between global frameworks and local action.
Co-organized by the One Planet Network’s Sustainable Food Systems Programme, FAO and the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub, with support from the UN-Nutrition Secretariat, the event provided an opportunity to explore how ongoing initiatives and partnerships can better support resilient food systems transformation towards 2030.
Recorded during the 54th Session of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS 54) at FAO Headquarters in Rome.
