Driving Gannan’s Wild Gorges 4K HDR - Mountain Roads Along the White Dragon River | G345, China

On this trip, we’ll follow China’s G345 National Highway westward along the White Dragon River, heading deep into a dramatic mountain gorge surrounded by towering mountains. The journey begins near Heishuiping Village in Bazang Town, Gansu, in the transition zone between Zhouqu and Diebu. Compared with the previous section of the journey, the mountains begin to close in around the river valley here, squeezing the road, river, and mountainsides into an increasingly narrow corridor. G345 winds its way through the White Dragon River valley, constantly finding its way between the river and the steep mountain slopes. As we continue toward Diebu, the terrain becomes increasingly dramatic. The mountains rise higher, the valley grows deeper, and the gorge walls reveal large stretches of exposed rock and steep cliffs, while dense forests still cover the higher slopes. This striking combination of bare rock along the lower gorge and forest-covered mountains above gives the White Dragon River valley a remarkable sense of depth and scale. Along the way, we’ll pass several Tibetan villages and continue winding through a landscape of rivers, deep gorges, and towering mountains.
