📖 About Yizhao Highway:Yizhao Highway (Yining–Zhaosu Highway), widely known as the “Little Duku Highway”, is one of the most stunning and legendary alpine scenic roads in Xinjiang, China. Stretching around 180 kilometers across the Wusun Mountains, a major branch of the grand Tianshan Mountain range, it links Yining City, the core city of Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, with Zhaosu County, the famous “hometown of Ferghana horses” in the Ili River Valley. As a mountain highway built entirely along the rugged terrain, Yizhao Highway only opens seasonally, typically from June to October each year. For the rest of the year, heavy snowfall and frozen road surfaces make it impassable, which makes every drive along this road a rare and cherished experience. The highway climbs from the fertile Ili River valley plain up to the Angele Daban Pass at an altitude of over 3,000 meters, then descends southward into the vast Zhaosu Grassland, presenting a dramatically changing and layered landscape along the whole journey.
