NO MORE SCALES PRODUCTION and trademark MOUSE SCALE® present. Professionals Should Not Work for Free. Episode 5. Why do drivers move the trailer tandems and the fifth wheel? Not only to stay within the weight limits. We want every truck to come home from a trip undamaged, with a decent reward for saving resources and reducing the risk of crashes. Mouse Scale Light predicts the axle weights and the optimal tandem position before you start moving the tandems. In our test, the app recommended seven four-inch holes toward the rear for a winter balance. After the move, the drive axles were 2,160 lb heavier than the trailer tandems. That is a 6.9% balance toward the drive axles. Under less-than-ideal conditions, the pneumatic method was off by 310 lb on the drive axles and 105 lb on the trailer tandems. The winter, even and fuel-saving balance numbers come from the practical experience of experienced drivers. They are not an official norm. When official, science-based recommendations on safe load balance appear, we will follow them. Numbers here are from our own test, as an example. Check the limits and rules that apply to you. Mouse Scale. A seed of knowledge. Put it to work for safety, efficiency, and decent reward for professional load control.
