WHEEL THROWN AND SGRAFFITO CARVED PLATE

The video shows a 17" plate relief carved (sgraffito) setup while leather hard. The decorative plate is thrown with a medium plastic clay that includes a medium size grog in the mix. It will be stained and carved, allowed to dry, bisque fired, then glazed with a semi-transparent glaze and refired to cone 5+. Only a few relief carving tools were used for the carving. The geckos and other images will soon be on some of the 26" plates, platters, or mirror frames that I throw and carve.
