SGRAFFITO CARVED CLAY BOWL

The video shows a small bowl relief (sgraffito) carved while leather hard. The decorative bowl or vase is thrown with a medium plastic clay that has a medium size grog in the mix. It will be stained and carved, allowed to dry, bisque fired, then glazed with a semi-transparent glaze and refired to cone 5+. A few tools not been used earlier were tried for the detail relief carving and they were great. I will be moving over to my large dishes and mirror frames in the next couple of weeks. The geckos will be on some of the large mirror frames and platters that will be thrown and carved soon.
