Everybody films the racing. Nobody films the week before it. I'm back in the shop in Greensboro, North Carolina getting my #63 Legend Car ready for a week at Charlotte Motor Speedway - Monday practice, Tuesday race. No AC, no fans, 90-degree warehouse, and a list a mile long. If you're new to Legend Cars, this is the honest version of what the sport actually costs you in time. WHAT GETS DONE IN THIS VIDEO Rebuilt my car dolly so I can actually move the car in a tight shop (oval-setup cars do NOT want to roll) Full detail and clean - and why a clean race car finds you problems Hammered the bent rear bumper back into shape Chased down the transponder that kept cutting out on track Bolt check and spark plugs Oil and filter change (plus my "NO OIL IN CAR" tape trick) De-glazed the brake pads - figure eights on concrete Rear diff fluid check I NEED YOUR HELP I'm still new to de-glazing brake pads. I was taught figure eights on smooth concrete and that's it. Am I doing enough? Too much? Drop a comment - I read every one of them. ABOUT ME I'm Chad. I race Legend Car #63 (white coupe) out of Greensboro, NC. I also run Midlife Classic Cars, where we sell automotive shop manuals and repair books. I'm not a pro driver. I'm a guy in his 40s who decided to go racing anyway. One foot in the grave, one foot on the throttle.
