Blood sugar is influenced by more than just the food on your plate. Physical activity, sleep, stress and daily routines all play a role in glucose regulation and metabolic health. In this video, Hansaji shares a practical 21-day routine to help you build healthier habits that support blood sugar management.
What you will learn:
1. How a calm morning routine and regular daylight exposure can support a healthy sleep-wake rhythm.
2. How methi (fenugreek) seeds may help with glucose regulation and why caution is needed if you take diabetes medication.
3. Why Surya Namaskar, Sahaj Bhavasana and regular physical activity help your muscles use glucose for energy.
4. How fibre-rich foods, protein, whole grains, millets, legumes and vegetables can make meals more balanced.
5. Why eating whole fruit is generally preferable to drinking fruit juice.
6. How a gentle 10-minute walk after meals may reduce post-meal blood sugar rises.
7. Why breaking up long periods of sitting matters, even if you exercise regularly.
8. How Ardha Matsyendrasana, Pavanmuktasana and diaphragmatic breathing can form part of a regular yoga routine.
9. How Anulom Vilom, stress management and consistent sleep habits support overall well-being.
Simple habits to practise daily
Start your morning calmly, choose balanced meals, move regularly throughout the day, walk after meals when possible, and maintain a consistent bedtime. You can also try nourishing breakfast options such as steamed moong with coconut, cumin and lemon, or vegetable besan chilla with methi and ajwain.
Methi seeds may affect blood sugar and can interact with glucose-lowering medication. Consult your healthcare professional before using them regularly, especially if you take diabetes medicines.
If you have diabetes, monitor your blood glucose as advised and continue prescribed medication. Do not reduce or stop medication without medical guidance. Learn to recognise signs of low blood sugar, such as sweating, shakiness, dizziness and sudden hunger, and follow your clinician's plan for treating it.
Use these 21 days to begin building sustainable habits. Your progress depends on your individual health, and these practices support—not replace—appropriate diabetes care.
