10 Costco Foods To Avoid (Plus 5 Must Haves)

Costco is known for big savings, trusted Kirkland products, and foods shoppers buy every single week — but some Costco favorites have also been tied to recalls, labeling issues, and food-safety concerns shoppers should know about. 🛒 Not sure what to buy anymore? Front labels are designed to sell. The ingredient list, recall history, and product details tell the real story. 👉 Check out the Buyers Disclosed Shopping Guide 2026 linked below. I put together the guide to help you quickly see what to buy, what to check, and what may be worth leaving on the shelf. In this video, we look at 10 Costco foods I would think twice about buying, including Kirkland Signature products, frozen meals, prepared foods, and one of Costco’s most famous items — the rotisserie chicken. We cover past recalls involving Salmonella, undeclared allergens, possible plastic and glass contamination, labeling mix-ups, and current lawsuit allegations involving Costco chicken. But here’s the thing: a recall does not automatically mean every version of a product is unsafe, and an expensive or popular product is not automatically the better choice. That’s why we also look at 5 Costco foods shoppers keep going back for, including the bakery croissants, Bibigo dumplings, Kirkland tempura shrimp, Kirkland vanilla ice cream, and the legendary $1.50 Costco hot dog and soda combo. The goal is simple: know what you’re buying, understand what has happened with the products you trust, and make better decisions before filling that oversized Costco cart.
