10 Lies Your Textbook Sold As American History

American history myths you learned in school were invented to sell textbooks. This film compares the textbook version with letters, logs and newspapers to debunk 10 enduring lies, from Columbus and the flat Earth myth created by Washington Irving to Pocahontas, Washington's cherry tree, Paul Revere, Betsy Ross and Edison's light bulb. It shows why St. Augustine 1565, not Plymouth 1620, was the first settlement and how 19th-century writers built the America you memorized.
