Giant bluefin tuna on stand-up popping gear aboard Eloise with Rob Thompson and Jason Gillespie. A 600m first run. 5 hours to land it. Three men. One devil fish that simply would not quit. LA GOMERA: Episodes 2 & 3: Chasing 1,000lb Tuna Two trips to the Canary Islands. A blank. A gearbox failure. Spanish government legislation banning the substitute boats overnight. James Standup riding to the rescue. And finally a 700lb bronze medal bluefin on the last cast of the trip. THE ALGARVE: Episodes 3 & 4: Pigs of the Sea Olhão, East Algarve. Blue Rampage with Gerhard and Drow. A dorado pattern lure. A savage bite. And then 7 hours in the fighting chair in 40 degree heat fighting the most psychotic, crafty, relentless bluefin tuna ever seen in the Algarve. 500 kilos. Over 3 metres. A grander. ✅ Two days later a second monster. 455 kilos. Gaetan shouting "3 metres" from the deck. Two grander grade bluefin tuna in one trip. Unbelievable. THE AZORES: Episode 5: 800lb Horses of Horta Horta, Fayal. Condor Bank. Aboard Alabote with Jose and Miguel Furtado. An 800lb+ blue marlin that took off like a Lamborghini and outpaced the boat at 17 knots for 40 minutes. A personal best. A silver medal. And the watermark for the rest of the challenge. OMAN: Episode 6: The Wild Card Salalah, Southern Oman. Sulleman Sport Fishing with Bobby. Blue marlin. Striped marlin. FAD fishing for mahi mahi on light tackle. A secluded beach where no human foot had likely ever landed. And a catch and cook barbecue at the foot of a mountain that will never be forgotten. CAPE VERDE: Episode 7: Marlin Party The Dogs Bollocks. Stuart Simpson, Sammy and Deco. Sonar technology. Teaser fishing. 20 for 27 in 6 days. Double hookups with Sully. Two marlin jumping simultaneously off the same boat. The greatest week of marlin fishing of a lifetime. The grander evaded us but it didn't matter one bit. THE AZORES: Episode 8: Last Chance Saloon Back to Alabote. Jose and Miguel. Three days of blanks. Leonardo flipping his coin on the last day. A €5 note on the bond submission rod. And then a 600lb blue marlin on the gamble of going to Azores Bank when every other boat went north. MOZAMBIQUE: Episode 9: End of the Road Bazaruto Archipelago. Mozambique Sport Fishing with Aaron Simser. Black marlin. Blue marlin. Sully in the chair fighting a 400lb black marlin like a seasoned pro. A shaman blessing the lures.
