The Seedling Hour (प्रकृति की पाठशाला)

Green Hub Fellows: Jaswant Singh and Ubaid Rasool (2025–26) Organisation: Nature Science Initiative (NSI) The Seedling Hour - Prakriti ki Paathshala explores how nature education is shaping a new generation of young conservation leaders in the Uttarakhand Himalayas. Through the work of Nature Science Initiative (NSI), the film highlights the importance of experiential learning that connects children and communities with the natural world. The documentary follows students as they participate in bird walks, nature trails, wetland visits, and field-based learning activities, discovering the rich biodiversity around them while developing skills in observing and documenting birds, butterflies, trees, and local ecosystems. Through nature clubs, eco-bricks, and interactive environmental education, the film showcases how curiosity and hands-on experiences inspire long-term stewardship of nature. The film also highlights NSI's work on menstrual sustainability, where students become peer educators and conduct awareness workshops in other schools. Alongside this, it captures community-led efforts to conserve the endangered Finn's Weaver, protect vital wetland habitats, and revive the traditional Ghughuti festival, demonstrating how culture, education, and conservation can come together to create lasting environmental change. At its heart, The Seedling Hour - Prakriti ki Paathshala is a story of environmental education, youth leadership, community participation, and the collective responsibility of building a more sustainable future. This film has been made as part of the Green Hub Western Himalayas (GHWH) Fellowship. GHWH was launched in 2024 as part of the Royal Enfield Social Mission and is based out of the Himalayan Hub at Theog, Himachal Pradesh. Green Hub is the flagship project of Dusty Foot Foundation and was initiated in Northeast India in 2015, and Central India in 2021.
