What exactly is Ogden's relationship with ICE, and how much do we know about what local law enforcement is doing? In this episode of One Ogden Now, we look at the growing debate over immigration enforcement and police surveillance in Weber County. Ogden residents are asking the city for a clearer policy on what Ogden Police officers should do when ICE is making an arrest. Meanwhile, Weber County deputies logged 236 hours of reimbursable ICE work from January through July, and data obtained by KUER shows 35 of 91 people arrested through Ogden's 287(g) program had no prior criminal history. KUER reporter Macy Lipkin joins us to explain what she's found while covering immigration enforcement across Utah, including: • The abandoned Salt Lake City ICE detention facility • Changes at Utah's immigration court • DACA renewal delays • Weber County's ICE reimbursement agreement • 287(g) arrests in Ogden • Questions about local police policies when ICE is making an arrest Then we turn to Flock license-plate cameras. Washington Terrace canceled its own three-camera trial, but Weber County cameras remain inside the city raising a bigger question about who controls local surveillance technology and the data it collects. One Ogden covers the stories, people and decisions shaping Ogden and Weber County, Utah.
