Christian Lacroix’s Spring 2009 ready-to-wear collection translated several elements of his haute couture vocabulary into more accessible silhouettes. The opening looks featured bejeweled toreador trousers and capes, boned and ribbon-trimmed pouf-shouldered dresses, Edwardian-inspired jackets with leg-of-mutton sleeves, bustled skirts and lightweight draped chiffon prints. The collection incorporated recurring Lacroix details including large carnation corsages and oversized bows. A tulle-shouldered corseted vest was paired with relaxed trousers, combining structured and informal elements, while the eveningwear included printed and draped mini dresses.
