Before Glen Canyon Dam could rise, crews had to create access to a remote canyon, build a bridge, carve two diversion tunnels, redirect the Colorado River, excavate to bedrock, and invent a concrete delivery system that could reach almost any point between the walls.
This documentary follows the cableways, twenty-four-ton buckets, batch plant, high scalers, tunnel crews, surveyors, and round-the-clock concrete teams behind the dam. More than four hundred thousand bucket loads were carried over the canyon as the structure climbed block by block. Cooling, placement sequence, alignment, and continuous testing mattered as much as the raw amount of concrete.
We also show the backstage system: the construction camp that became Page, Arizona, the steel arch bridge that shortened a two-hundred-mile detour, and the diversion works that turned a riverbed into a jobsite. The engineering created water storage and power, while the reservoir transformed a landscape whose loss remains central to the project's history.
