Every pianist has their first milestones—moments that affirm their artistic ability and determination. For Phan Tấn Phát, a 10-year-old student in Year 2 of the 9-year Intermediate Program, Piano Department – Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, mastering Fantaisie-Impromptu, Op. 66 is a proud step forward on his artistic journey.
Tips for Practicing the Polyrhythm Runs in Chopin’s Fantaisie-Impromptu, Op. 66
In Frédéric Chopin’s Fantaisie-Impromptu, Op. 66, one of the greatest challenges is the 4:3 polyrhythm: the right hand plays four notes while the left hand plays three notes within the same span of time.
Regarded as one of Frédéric Chopin’s most celebrated masterpieces, Fantaisie-Impromptu requires the performer not only to possess solid technical skills to handle its rapid and complex passages, but also to convey the poetry, subtlety, and emotional depth of the lyrical melody in the middle section.
We invite you to enjoy Phan Tấn Phát’s performance on the Crystal CR-45 piano and experience the journey of a young talent who is steadily reaching toward the heights of classical music.
