Dead Crucial X9 Pro 4TB SSD: recovering the data by swapping its memory chips onto a donor X10 Pro board. Dead SSD or hard drive? Start your recovery here: http://www.hddrecovery.ca/contact-us/ A Crucial X9 Pro 4 TB portable SSD blew up, and someone had already tried to fix it. The drive was dead: no power draw and no response from the controller. In this video I move the memory chips (NAND) onto a donor Crucial X10 Pro board to bring it back to life and recover the client's data. The X9 Pro and X10 Pro boards turned out to be fully cross-compatible. Both use the Silicon Motion SM2320 controller, so the original memory chips worked on the donor board. This was my first chip swap on this controller.
