Remembering Andy Rooney | 60 Minutes Archive

For decades, Andy Rooney captivated audiences with his prickly wit and commentary at the end of the 60 Minutes broadcast. Upon his retirement in 2011, Morley Safer asked him if he ever thought he would become an icon on 60 Minutes. "I don't know whether you're right or not," Rooney answered. "But I like hearing you say it." Today marks 15 years since Rooney's death at the age of 92. "60 Minutes" is the most successful television broadcast in history. Offering hard-hitting investigative reports, interviews, feature segments and profiles of people in the news, the broadcast began in 1968 and is still a hit, over 50 seasons later, regularly making Nielsen's Top 10.
