PNT Episode26 | Pasayten Wilderness Day4 | Frosty Pass | Pasayten Air Strip

Blessings! In Episode 26, Mark and Noah continue our week-long journey across the Pasayten Wilderness in Northern Washington State along the Pacific Northwest Trail. Day 4 of our adventure started buggy, but at least we had nice weather. Frosty Pass had beautiful views, but also gave us a glimpse of the expected burn area that we had to parkour through. Nearly injured myself slipping on one of the downed burn logs. The route-finding was pretty slow through that burn area, but actually a fun challenge. Relief from the blow downs came close to Dead Lake where the awesome trail crews had logged. What we thought was going to be a camp by the Pasayten River ended up being a change-of-plans fire closure and reroute. I stopped video footage after we left the PNT at the Old Pasayten Airstrip. From there we headed as if we were going to go over Tatoosh Buttes, the only through route, but decided against that after talking with Backcountry Horsemen of Washington that were working on that trail. Rationing food of a teenager to go further miles than expected is not a good plan. So the night of July 28th we stayed on a sand bar in the Lease Creek and prayed the dead standing logs didn't fall on our tent that night. Had a few satellite messages to Anna and convinced her to come 'save' the boys the next day. Little did she know that she'd be driving up the highest road in Washington State to get to Slate Pass at 7,000ft elevation. White-knuckle territory for her and not too gentle on her car. "Thanks Dear!" I said. "Never Again!" was her reply. Stay tuned for Episode 27, where we pick up the trail at Peeve Pass, after a really cool hike from Billy Goat Trailhead. Going to have to hike that one again some day with time enough to take some video.
