They drink fresh water from SAND just 30 meters from the salty sea?! 😳 In this video I toured Old Ningo and Prampram and discovered their shocking survival secret!
I visited Old Ningo beach, saw fishermen fixing nets and chanting while pulling canoes, toured Fort Fredensborg (1734 Danish slave fort), Fort Vernon in Prampram (1742 British fort), and the FIRST police station in Ghana (1814, bulletproof walls, no roof but still standing strong)!
But what shocked me most was a dugout near the sea — NOT for irrigation, but for DRINKING and COOKING! No pipe, no borehole. Just a hole in the sand giving fresh water. How? I explain the freshwater lens science and the spirituality of Djange, the sea god.

🔥 FUN FACTS IN THIS VIDEO:
Old Ningo means Water-Salt and also SNOW in Latin!
Fort Fredensborg had only 1 man raising flag in 1835
Fort Vernon was built with mud (swish) so it collapsed fast
First police station in Ghana is NOT in Accra, it's in Prampram, 211 years old!
Dugout water is fresh because sand filters rainwater floating on salt water
💧 THE DUGOUT SECRET EXPLAINED:
Rainwater sinks into sand, floats on seawater (freshwater lens). Dig 2-4m = fresh drinking & cooking water. No Ghana Water pipe needed. Protected by community taboos.
🙏 SPIRITUALITY:
Old Ningo worships Djange - god of sea, fertility, protection. Nmayem festival = We Have Eaten. Whale Bonsu gets full funeral. Libation = sea listens only to those who pour its drink.
📍 LOCATIONS:
