We Dug Beneath a Haunted Banyan Tree — What We Found Explains the Giant Figure Locals Fear

Locals believe a spirit lives inside this ancient banyan tree in northern Vietnam — and that disturbing it comes at a terrible cost. At night, mysterious lights circle the tree. On full moon nights, witnesses say a silent figure, seven to eight meters tall, walks through the nearby rice fields. We searched the ground with a metal detector and found an old bowl hiding a sealed jar full of ancient coins — possibly used in a protective ritual centuries ago. We chose not to take them.
