Gus Mus, in Tebuireng Magazine, stated that the relationship between these three figures is like that of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his two companions, Abu Bakr As-Sidiq and Umar bin Khattab. KH Bisri Syansuri is considered a NU scholar who resolves problems through a pure Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh). This view often contradicts that of another NU founder, KH Abdul Wahab Chasbullah, who specialized in the science of ushul fiqh.
