https://www.electrifying.com/reviews/... The Jaguar Type 01 is finally here – and, incredibly, Jaguar actually built the car it promised us. After the extraordinary Type 00 concept caused a sensation in 2024, there were plenty of questions about how much of that outrageous design would survive the journey into production. The answer? Quite a lot. The Type 01 is a five-metre-plus electric grand tourer with more than 1,000hp, three motors, a huge 118kWh battery and a claimed range of up to 450 miles. It can charge at up to 350kW, with Jaguar claiming an extra 200 miles of range in just 13 minutes. But the numbers aren't really the point. Jaguar has designed the Type 01 from the ground up around its styling, creating a unique electric platform and sticking remarkably closely to the Type 00 concept. There are 23-inch wheels, an almost impossibly long bonnet, no rear window and a dramatic four-seat interior built around a central spine. Inside, you'll find a 24-inch OLED display, a dedicated seven-inch control screen, a full-width soundbar, seats with Jaguar's Sensory Audio system and, yes, even a fragrance diffuser. We've also had a passenger ride in a development prototype, while Vicky has driven one, giving us an early impression of what this huge electric GT is like on the road. Orders for the Jaguar Type 01 open on 6 October, with first deliveries expected from mid-2027. So has Jaguar really pulled off its biggest gamble yet?
