Ryuichi Sakamoto (1952–2023) — Andata
for organ & electronics
Performed and arranged for organ and electronics by Vladimir Magalashvili, who also composed the electronics for this version.
Andata is a work by Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto from his 2017 album async. Sakamoto conceived the album as an imaginary soundtrack to a film by Andrei Tarkovsky that was never made. Created during a period of reflection on fragility, mortality and the passage of time, async explores a highly personal and atmospheric sound world.
In this version of Andata, electronics are combined with the sound of a real pipe organ. The instrument heard in the recording is the Anton Feith Sr. organ from 1925 (III/P · 52 stops) at St. Marien, Berlin-Wilmersdorf.
Recorded in 2025 at St. Marien, Berlin-Wilmersdorf by Knut Becker.
