A quiet walk through a lesser-seen side of Tokyo, from Shinagawa to Osaki along the Yamanote Line.
Leaving the busy station area behind, this walk explores calm residential streets, local railways, and the everyday side of Tokyo that lies just beyond the major tourist districts.
With a detailed MAP along the way, discover a quieter side of Tokyo — one walk at a time.
YAMANOTE LOOP — STATION BY STATION
In Part 7 of the Yamanote Loop series, we walk from Shinagawa Station to Osaki Station.
Leaving the busy railways and crowds around Shinagawa behind, the route gradually climbs toward Gotenyama, where the city suddenly feels quieter. We pass through Gotenyama Trust City and the peaceful Gotenyama Garden before descending again toward the Meguro River and Osaki.
It’s a short stretch between two major stations, but the changes in elevation, atmosphere, greenery, and city life make it a surprisingly varied walk.
A light rain fell during parts of this walk, occasionally leaving raindrops on the lens. I’ve kept these moments as part of the atmosphere of Tokyo on that day.
The rules are simple:
• Start at Tokyo Station and walk the entire Yamanote Line loop clockwise.
• Walk one station-to-station section per video.
• Stay inside the Yamanote Line as much as possible — with the occasional wrong turn allowed!
