Welcome to Part 3 of my DIY Papier-Mâché Floor Lamp project! 💡🤎 In this episode, I’m sharing one of the easiest and most affordable ways to make homemade paper clay using toilet paper and PVA glue! 🧻✨ I’m also continuing to work on my handmade floor lamp, covering the lampshade with papier-mâché and creating a beautiful textured surface. 🧻 Super Budget-Friendly Paper Clay Recipe This time, I’m using very cheap, plain toilet paper made from recycled paper, without fragrances or added whitening agents. This type of toilet paper is available in many countries, and it has some great advantages: ✨ It’s extremely inexpensive. ✨ It breaks down in water almost instantly. ✨ There’s no need to soak it overnight. ✨ It’s easy to mix into a smooth paper pulp. ✨ It’s perfect for sculpting and creating textured surfaces. Simply add water, stir until the paper breaks down, remove the excess water, and mix the pulp with white PVA glue. What about the glue? You don’t need expensive PVA glue for papier-mâché! I use inexpensive, water-based white PVA glue because large projects require quite a lot of it. The most important thing is to add enough glue so the mixture holds together and is easy to shape. The exact amount depends on the consistency of your glue. Even inexpensive glue can produce strong results when it’s suitable for the project and the papier-mâché is prepared and dried properly. 💡 Making the Papier-Mâché Lampshade In Part 2, I created the lampshade frame using two metal rings connected with cardboard. I also made irregular openings that will eventually allow light to shine through. In this episode, I’m covering the cardboard lampshade with my homemade paper clay, carefully shaping the surface and working around the openings. The lamp is still a work in progress, and there’s much more to come! I’m experimenting with shapes, textures, and different techniques as I go. ♻️ I love showing how inexpensive, everyday materials can be transformed into something unique and beautiful! ⚠️ Safety note: Papier-mâché is combustible. Before using a handmade lampshade, make sure the finished design has suitable heat-resistant construction, adequate clearance from the bulb, and safe electrical components. An LED bulb alone does not guarantee fire safety. ❤️ If you enjoy DIY home decor, recycled crafts, and papier-mâché projects, please give this video a thumbs up! 🔔 Subscribe to my channel and follow this series so you don’t miss Part 4! 💬 Have you ever tried making paper clay from toilet paper?
