Elijah on Mount Carmel, from 1 Kings 18, inspired by a message from Prophet Eric. In the Hebrew, Elijah asks how long the people will "limp" (pasach) between two opinions. That word shares its root with Passover. Twelve stones, a soaked altar, and fire from heaven answer him. This is a call to rebuild what's broken and let the fire fall.
REPAIR THE ALTAR (THE FIRE SHALL FALL)
[Verse 1: Voice A]
Three long years the heavens closed, the fields lay cracked and dry,
A people limping in between two answers and a lie.
They called on Baal from dawn to dusk, they cut themselves and cried,
But midday passed, no voice came down. No god of theirs replied.
[Pre-Chorus: Voice B]
Then a voice rang out on Carmel's height:
"Come near to me, come near."
The people gathered, hearts turned back,
And heaven drew them near.
[Chorus: Both]
The Spirit of Elijah has come upon this land,
The altars are repaired by a faithful remnant's hand.
Stone upon stone, we answered the call,
And now, oh now, the fire shall fall.
The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!
[Verse 2: Voice B]
He took up twelve stones for the tribes of the Lord,
Twelve for the apostles who would carry the Word.
He dug out a trench where the water would flow,
Like the mist over Eden when God formed man long ago.
He laid out the ox, cut in pieces on wood,
Like the Lamb who was bruised and was striped for our good.
[Verse 3: Voice A]
Four pitchers were poured for four thousand years,
Three times, for three days, till the Savior appears.
The water ran over, a well deep within,
The Spirit poured out on the daughters and sons of men.
At the evening sacrifice the sky turned black,
He cried, "It is finished," and there's no turning back.
[Chorus: Both]
The Spirit of Elijah has come upon this land,
The altars are repaired by a faithful remnant's hand.
From creation to the cross to the Pentecost flame,
The fire shall fall, and we'll call on His name.
The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!
[Bridge: Voice A]
Turn the hearts of the children to the fathers again,
[Voice B]
Turn the heart of a nation to the Father of men.
[Both]
We look back to move forward, we fall back to spring.
No more a silent people. Church, find your voice and sing!
[Voice A]
From this old city by the shore, a voice is going out:
[Voice B]
The King's name is in this ground. Let the remnant shout!
[Verse 4: Voice B]
So what's broken down inside you? What's scattered in the dust?
Have you built Him an altar? Have you given Him your trust?
The sacrifice He's asking is your time and your days.
When your words run dry, let the Spirit lead your praise.
Lay your children on the altar, let the fire fall on them.
He is good without exception. There's no darkness in Him.
[Verse 5: Voice A]
There's no fence to sit on, no middle of the road.
You'll step into the fire, or you'll stay dead and cold.
Healing hands are rising, and the chains begin to break,
Sauls becoming Pauls as the sleeping souls awake.
[Final Chorus: Both]
The Spirit of Elijah has come upon this land,
The altars are repaired, and we're ready where we stand.
Stone upon stone, we answered the call,
And now, oh now, the fire shall fall.
The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!
[Outro, softly: Voice A]
Holy Spirit, we invite You.
[Voice B]
Spirit of the Living Father, come.
[Both]
Fall on the altar, fall on our homes.
The Lord, He is God.
