Reading & Northern's 2025 Tomato Festival Ramble: 2102 to Pittston

Earlier in 2025, Reading & Northern Railroad's big 4-8-4, #2102, rambled up the Lehigh Division of the railroad for a festival in the town of Tunkhannock, up near the northern end of the railroad. On Saturday, August 23, the locomotive and train headed up that way again, this time to the town of Pittston, for their annual Tomato Festival. Pittston is part of the route up to Tunkhannock, so this is the second trip of the year for #2102 out of Nesquehoning and up this branch of the railroad, providing another opportunity for those onboard and trackside to hear this mighty and magnificent locomotive up various grades in each direction of the trip. Similar to past trips, the train added a pair of diesel helpers (to assist in braking) for the trip downhill from the aptly-named Mountain Top to Pittston. This is the last "Ramble" of 2025, however, there will be more opportunities to see and ride behind #2102 this fall.
