የዚህ ሳምንት እንግዳችን ኢትዮጵያዊ ኩሬተር፣ የባህል ስትራቴጂስት እና የዞማ ሙዚየም አጋር-መስራችና ዳይሬክተር የሆኑት ወ/ሮ መስከረም አሰገድ ናቸዉ። በለጋ እድሜያቸው ወደ ሀገረ አሜሪካ ያመሩት ወ/ሮ መስከረም አሰገድ የመጀመሪያ ዲግሪያቸውን በክሊኒካል ሳይኮሎጂ ያገኙ ሲሆን ዳንስ፣ ጃዝ፣ አርት፣ ፍልስፍና እና አናቶሚን በሚያጠቃልል ሁለገብ የትምህርት ልምድ አላቸው። በአንትሮፖሎጂ የማስተርስ ዲግሪያቸውንም ከአንጾኪያ ዩኒቨርሲቲ አግኝተዋል፣ በዚያም በባህል፣ በማንነት እና በህብረተሰብ መካከል ባሉ ግንኙነቶች ላይ ትኩረቷን አጥንተዋል። በኢትዮጵያ ዘመናዊ የኪነ-ጥበብ ዓለም ከማበልፀግ ረገድ አስፈላጊ ሚና የተጫወቱት ወ/ሮ መስከረም፤ በርካታ ስራዎቻቸዉ ኪነ-ጥበብን ከማህበረሰብ፣ ከታሪክ እና ከማንነት ጋር ባህልንና ዘመናዊነትን በማጣመር ይታወቃሉ። በስራቸውም የፈረንሳይ “Chevalier dans l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres” (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) ያሉ ከፍተኛ እውቅና እና ሽልማቶች ባለቤት ሆነዋል። በዓለም አቀፍ የባህል ተቋማትና ኤግዚቢሽኖች ውስጥ የሰሩት ወ/ሮ መስከረም፣ ተፅእኖዋቸዉ ከኩሬሽን ባለፈ የባህል ጥበቃ፣ የተፈጥሮ-ተመራ አርክቴክቸር እና የእውቀት ግንባታን ያካትታል። የዞማ ሙዚየም ተፈጥሮን፣ ታሪክን፣ ትምህርትን እና ስነ-ጥበብን ያዋሀድ ልዩ የቤተ መዘክር ነው። በዚህ ክፍል የወ/ሮ መስከረም አሰገድን ልጅነትና አስተዳደግ፣ የሥራ ልምድና ወደ ኪነ-ጥበብ እና ኩሬሽን የወሰዱትን ጉዞ፣ የዞማ ሙዚየም ታሪክ እና ስራ እንዲሁም ጥበብ እና አርት በማህበረሰብ እና ሀገር ላይ ያለውን ሚና እንመለከታለን። This week’s guest is Meskerem Assegued, an Ethiopian curator, cultural strategist, and founder of the Zoma Museum. Meskerem Assegued, who moved to the United States at a young age, earned her bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology and has a multidisciplinary background that includes dance, jazz, art, philosophy, and anatomy. She also holds a master’s degree in anthropology from Antioch University, where she focused on the relationship between culture, identity, and society. Meskerem has played a significant role in the development of Ethiopia’s contemporary art scene. Her work is widely recognized for integrating art with society, history, identity, and the dialogue between culture and modernity. In recognition of her contributions, she was awarded the prestigious “Chevalier dans l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres” (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters). With experience across international cultural institutions and exhibitions, Meskerem’s impact extends beyond curation into cultural preservation, nature-led architecture, and knowledge building.
