And eternal life isn't simply about living for an endless amount of time. Terry K. Anderson explains that eternal life has both quantity and quality. Yes, believers will live forever with Christ. But the life God promises is also superior to this present life. Everything about these earthly bodies is wearing down. Our strength changes. Our eyesight changes. Our hearing changes. Our bodies grow tired. But this temporary life isn't the final chapter. The believer lives between the “already” and the “not yet.” In Christ, we already possess eternal life. Yet we haven't experienced its fullness. We have it—and we're still on our way to it. That means suffering doesn't cancel God's promise. You may cry. You may experience pain. You may endure trials and tribulation. But Jesus has already overcome the world. And there is a future promise waiting for everyone who belongs to Christ. Heaven. A place with no more death. No more pain. No more sickness. No more funerals. No more separation. No more tears. No more growing old. No more final goodbyes. But even those things aren't the greatest reason to desire Heaven. The greatest reason is Jesus will be there. One day believers will see the One whose hands were pierced, whose side was wounded, and whose blood was shed at Calvary for our salvation. This earthly body is temporary. Terry K. Anderson compares it to a lease agreement. One day the lease expires. The question is: Do you have a forwarding address? For those who belong to Jesus Christ, death isn't the end. We have another building—a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. So remain steadfast. Remain faithful. Keep serving Christ.
