The Teacher Who Laid The Blueprint| Mr Mailula |Ep 23

He was our first guest when the whole movement was still an idea. Now we came back to give him his flowers. Mr America Mailula laid the blueprint. Before Makazana 015 had a name, before the mics, before the views — he said YES.He sat with a young man from Makotopong with a dream and a laptop on a small table. That YES became a path every other guest walked on. Part 2 is us coming back to say: Look what your YES built. In this episode,we document history: 24 years ago, Mr Mailula made his primary school kids collect old newspapers to build MADIBA from papier-mâché.One of those 8-year-old kids was Khehla Chepape Makgato — today,a world-renowned artist who says "Mr Mailula changed the course of my life." Today, that same Madiba bust lives in his collection.Today,Mr Mailula still teaches art in Ward 24.Now he's teaching his little artists about Khehla and still advocating for opportunities and platforms as he believes there are no resources available and he is willing to assist. Full circle.Ward 24 to the World. This is not just a podcast. This is archive. GUEST: Mr America Mailula - Artist, Art Teacher, Ward 24 Legend.
