Just in case you did not know, it is a combination of journalism and organisational leadership skills at work for Ssentebe (LC1 Chairperson) Solomon Sserwanjja. Yes, he is ruling in Bamutakudde Village, and that’s a “big deal”. Mark that word “ruling” as you watch this conversation.
He has experience in branding and marketing that he now lends to Bamutakudde and his team of over 20 people, each volunteering because they believe in the vision of a model village in Uganda through “corporate governance at the local government level”?
The corporate governance concept is an experiment that the team, already at work, is implementing to show how the basic principles of good leadership, accountability, transparency and responsible management can be applied to local government, even at the LC1 village level to serve communities better.
Ladies and gentlemen, this could be a long or short ride because that journey started two and a half months ago with a strategic plan for Bamutakudde Village as the dream blue print. The team has been carefully selected to fit the purpose. With each role requiring qualification.
Meanwhile, a March 2027 celebration is expected when he graduates with a PhD in Journalism, Media and Communication from Uganda Christian University, Mukono.
For now, let’s listen to him speak in this gently-paced conversation on how the idea of a model village is shaping up, pick up a few nuggets on journalism, and get a glimpse of what life as an LC1 Chairperson in Uganda looks like.
By the end of this episode, you should be able to appreciate how leadership can shape society through thought leadership. You may agree or disagree with your local leaders, but this conversation invites you to reflect on life, leadership, education, and the role of corporate governance in local government leadership.
New episodes are available every Monday and Thursday.
God bless you as you watch this conversation and in whatever you do to contribute positively to your community!
