What do you do when an insurance adjuster denies wind damage on part of a roof but approves another slope? In this video, I break down a real roofing insurance claim where the adjuster denied the rear slope, refused to reimburse for tarping and an ITEL report, and claimed the observed damage was not consistent with wind damage. Instead of immediately arguing with the adjuster, I look for something different: facts versus opinions. If an adjuster says the damage wasn't caused by wind, what evidence supports that conclusion? If they didn't inspect underneath the tarp, how was that determination made? And if they believe the damage wasn't caused by wind, what do they believe caused it? Those questions can completely change the conversation. I also break down the homeowner's duty to mitigate further damage, how I would approach reimbursement for an ITEL report, and why contractors need to understand the difference between collecting evidence and simply arguing their position. A lot of difficult roof insurance claims don't need a longer argument. They need better communication. That's exactly why we built Gladstone. Gladstone helps roofing reps handle the second job that came with insurance restoration: reading adjuster emails, comparing estimates, identifying missing line items, and drafting responses based on the facts of the claim. You review it. You send it. Done.
